HIKE – Wengen to Burglauenen

You can reach Wengen by taking the train to Lauterbrunnen first. You can find the train at Interlaken West. From Lauterbrunnen, you can change to a small, mountain train that takes you all the way up to the little village of Wengen and there our trail begins!

The first part of this trail leads you up into the mountains. You climb a steep path, around 330 meters high. You soon leave the town Wengen and find yourself surrounded by trees. From there, you continue on a small path that takes you along the mountainside, relatively flat.
If you’re near Burglauenen, you have to descend 770 meters to get to the trainstation.

Fun fact: The train in Burglauenen only stops at request, so don’t forget to push the button if you arrive, so you can actually hop on again.

I wouldn’t recommend this walk with young children. As you make your way along the mountainside, there are some very steep rivers and abysses to cross. For this reason, I can also recommend taking walking sticks, so you keep your stability when crossing one of the fast-flowing rivers near a steep precipice
